Sherwood Forest Singers Return to MD Renaissance Festival
Founded in January 2025, the Sherwood Forest Singers will return for their second year at the Maryland Renaissance Festival (MDRF) during the weekends of September 19-20 and September 26 & 27. The group will perform two 25-minute sets each day, bringing the sounds of days of old to the streets of Revel Grove.
The Sherwood Forest Singers is a band of traveling troubadours who strive to bring the magic of music to Revel Grove and beyond. This 17-member ensemble was formed by singers of the larger Sherwood Community Chamber Choir, united by a shared passion for both choral music and the immersive world of the MDRF. Together, they’ve created an ensemble that blends musical excellence with the joy of theatrical performance.
The group features balanced SATB parts (4–5 singers per section) and a repertoire inspired by traditional folk music from Europe and North America. This year’s set includes Sea Shanties, Shaker tunes, and Renaissance-style ballads. The singers meet weekly to rehearse and are largely self-directed.
