Sherwood Community Chamber Choir, Ireland Ensemble
The Sherwood Community Chamber Choir (SCCC), formed in 2014, is a 50-member auditioned volunteer chorus based in the Olney-Sandy Spring area of Montgomery County, Maryland. The choir performs classical and traditional a cappella choral music, enriching both the community and its members. SCCC performs two concerts annually and rehearses weekly. In 2023, SCCC embarked on its first international tour to Italy, performing in Florence, Parma, and Stresa. SCCC's second tour, set for 2025, will feature performances in Ireland. Supported by a grant from the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, SCCC is committed to promoting cultural diversity through music.
Leadership Team
William Evans (Founding Artistic Director & Conductor)
Founder of SCCC, William Evans retired in 2016 after 37 years of teaching choral music at Sherwood High School. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Clarion University and a Master of Music in Voice from The Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University.
Kenny Phillips (Assistant Director)
Kenny Phillips holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Westminster Choir College and has over 20 years of choir direction experience. He has performed with major orchestras and in prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.
