Meet the Board

Jeanne Murphy-Stone (Board Chair) is a parent of a Sherwood High School Chamber Singers alum and SCCC member. Jeanne has been an SCCC member herself since 2018. She is a certified nurse-midwife and health consultant in the federal government; she also helps advise on health-related issues for the choir. She is a member of IFPTE Local 1921. Jeanne has an A.B. from Brown University, an MSN from Yale University, and a PhD in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University. She is originally from New York City.

Joseph Adam (Board Vice-Chair; Chair of Internal Affairs Committee) is a Service Manager for a commercial HVAC company and member of Local 602 Steamfitters. He has been a member of the SCCC since its inception in 2014. He was a member of Chamber Singers, Jazz Choir, and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Revival” for all 4 years of high school until his graduation in 2005.

Ashley Griffin (Board Secretary) is a Class of 2015 graduate of Sherwood High School, where she participated in Show Choir, Chamber Singers, and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Revival.” She performed with the Sherwood Chamber Singers on their tour to Italy in 2015. Ashley graduated from Boston University with a BA in Sociology and BS in Journalism, and she now works in marketing & operations.

Laura Manion (Board Treasurer) is a National Board Certified Teacher with sixteen years of middle school teaching and administration experience in diverse settings. She was a member of the Live Oak School board of trustees and served on the diversity and finance committees. She is a graduate of the Sherwood High School Class of 2000 and was a member of Chamber Singers, as well as “Rock ‘n’ Roll Revival”. She has a BA from St. John’s College in Annapolis, and master’s degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi the University of the Pacific, respectively.

Michael Amster (Trustee) is Director of Operations with Creative Bio-Peptides, Inc., a Delaware corporation with offices in Potomac, MD. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Focus Music, a non-profit organization dedicated to presenting live folk music in community settings. Mike has a BA from George Washington University in Washington, DC, and an MBA from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA. He is also the proud parent of two Sherwood High School music program alumni.

Brian Duffy (Trustee) is a 2011 Sherwood High School graduate. While at Sherwood, he was a member of the Chamber Singers and a cast member in “Rock 'n' Roll Revival.” He graduated from the Culinary Institute of America with an Associate's in culinary arts and a Bachelors in culinary science, and he currently works as a culinologist at Fuchs North America.

Kevin Klein (Trustee) is a 2005 graduate of Sherwood High School, where he participated in jazz ensembles and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Revival” as a guitarist. He continued his musical studies at the University of Maryland, graduating in 2010 with a degree in Jazz Guitar Performance, and now leads a team of analysts in the advertising analytics space. 

Tom Nisbet (Trustee) is a software engineer and consultant. Tom graduated from Sherwood High School in 1982 and sang in the Music Men chorus and the Rock and Roll Revival shows. He is an active member of the Barbershop Harmony Society where he holds board and leadership positions at the chapter and district level. He serves as the treasurer of Parkside Harmony, an internationally ranked barbershop chorus based in Hershey, PA. Tom has an MS in Computer Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and BS in Computer Science from Frostburg State University.

Jaegan Williams (Member-at-Large) is a 2001 graduate of Sherwood High School. He was active in Sherwood Chamber Singers and the Rock N Roll Revival and has been a member of the Sherwood Community Chamber Choir since it began. A graduate of University of Texas at Arlington and the University of Maryland School of Law, he is now a practicing attorney in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Jacqueline Yu (Trustee; Chair of External Affairs Committee) is a 2007 graduate of Sherwood High School. While at Sherwood, she was an active member of the music department and is now an active member of the Sherwood Community Chamber Choir. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration at Savannah College of Art and Design in 2011. She lives and works in Montgomery County.
